Canary by Gorji: Gourmet/Fine Dining/Mediterranean & Steak
Located at Village on the Parkway in Addison, this is a godsend and is the perfect place to dine if you are looking for a relaxing or romantic atmosphere. After living in Spain and Argentina for a while I'm very much a fan of the concept of sobremesa and enjoy spending 2 hours dining with friends and not feeling rushed. This is the perfect place for that. I'm even going to go as far as saying that this is one of my favorite restaurants in the Dallas area and it's even in Addison...you don't have to go to downtown Dallas or uptown and fret over finding a place to park!
Canary is a small restaurant with only ten tables so it is important to make a reservation beforehand. I think the fact that Canary is a small restaurant is one of the reasons why it is so successful because they are able to pay attention to detail at every table and give you the quality of service and food that you deserve as opposed to having a large restaurant with many chefs who may not be able to keep their dishes consistent. The chef/owner seems to always be there running the place, making sure everything is perfect, and the restaurant itself is quite lovely with white table cloths and fresh flowers on the tables, tasteful decor and lighting, high quality wine glasses, and excellent service. I also appreciate the fact that it is noted on their website that they do not accommodate young children...Yay! No screaming babies while you are trying to enjoy your meal!
And the best part? The to die for dishes and excellent wine selection. Every single dish and wine pairing that I have tried is delicious and well thought out to bring the perfect combination of flavors. I would especially like to recommend trying the pan-seared Rainbow Trout with white wine accompanied with capers and barberries. Oh, and make sure you leave room for dessert!
